Steps to make a backup of your Mac using Time Machine
Step one: First off, you need to connect an external hard disk or Time Capsule with a USB. After that,hit the Apple icon to proceed
Step two: Next up, select System Preferences from the drop-down menu and click on Time Machine
Step three: Once you are done, turn on the switch for Time Machine and hit Select Backup Disk on the right.
Steps to downgrade macOS High Sierra to macOS Sierra
Step one: Once you have successfully made a backup of your Mac using Time Machine, you now can downgrade back to macOS Sierra. First, you need to click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen. After that, hit Restart to proceed
Step two: While your Mac restarts, make sure that you hold down Command + R to bring up the OS X Utilities to proceed
Step three: Once you are done, hit Continue and then hit Startup Disk. After that, you need to clickErase and then enter the macOS Sierra file you want to remove
Step four: You now need to select macOS Extended and hit Erase
Step five: Once macOS High Sierra has been removed from your Mac, you now can re-install macOS Sierra. To do this, you need to click on Reinstall OS X from the OS X Utilities, select Continue and agree to terms and conditions
Step six: The Mac will start installing macOS Sierra and then reboot.
Steps to restore your data from Time Machine backup
Step one: Once your Mac finishes booting up, your computer is now running mac Sierra. To restore your data from a Time Machine backup, reboot your Mac and hold down Command + R (while it reboots)
Step two: From the OS X Utilities menu, you simply need to hit Restore button from Time Machine Backup. After that, you need to click Continue
Step three: Next up, hit Continue again and then click Time Machine Backup to proceed
Step four: Select your backup and hit Continue to complete the task.
